Gunners hotting up.

A quick visit to Gunners Park this afternoon produced some smashing views of migrating Spotted Flycatchers. There were more birds around in general than on Monday with larger mixed flocks of passerines foraging around the old tennis courts area. It's all so tantalising!

Curlew Sandpipers - Wallasea

Saw 2 Curlew Sandpipers among the Ringed Plovers and Dunlin on the Wallasea fields today. Other highlights were a distant male Marsh harrier and 3 Wheatear. Picked up a Spotted Flycatcher later on at Gunners Park but unfortunately not the Wood Warbler that had been seen earlier in the day.

Yellow-tufted Honeyeater, RNP

Yellow-tufted Honeyeater
I did some gentle birding along the Mount Bass Firetrail, Royal National Park this weekend (Sydney). There were a few Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters hanging about at the end of the track as usual. We also had a record number of cockies in the backyard - thirteen in all. Lucky for some, not for my plants.

Cattle Egrets and Glow Worms

With light fading fast and with the help from fellow soggers Paul and Don, I managed to catch up with the Adult and juv Cattle Egret (juv pictured [badly]) at the 2 Tree Island egret roost. In the afterglow of the Cattle Egrets I made the most of the dark and counted 11 glow worms on Belton Hills. This glow worm was attracting the wrong kind of attention (artistic license taken with the lighting in this pic).
